Staff profiles
James Pickup: BSc (Hons) MCSP
James graduated from Coventry University in1999 with a first class honours degree in physiotherapy, and became a partner at Worcestershire Physiotherapy in 2004 having worked freelance with the practice for the previous two years.
Prior to this James gained extensive musculoskeletal experience both in hospitals and in the community, where he worked closely with a number of GP practices.
James has undertaken numerous post graduate courses including acupuncture and spinal manipulation, and in 2003 gained membership of the society of orthopaedic medicine. He is currently studying for a masters degree in advanced manipulative physiotherapy at Birmingham university.
Paul Dando: MCSP
Paul qualified from Sheffield Polytechnic in 1981 and thereafter gained his general experience at Sandwell General Hospital, where he later ran the outpatient department for two years. He began working with the practice in 1989, whilst also working at the Droitwich Private Hospital. In 1994 he started his own practice in Halesowen and then amalgamated with Watson and Rees when he joined as a partner in 1999.
With a special interest in musculo-skeletal and sports injuries – particularly soft tissue injuries and spinal problems - Paul is a familiar face to sportsmen from numerous local sports clubs.
He is a Member of the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine and has also trained to become a member of the Acupuncture Association of Physiotherapists, often using this form of therapy as part of his treatment.
Katie Locker: BSc (Hons) MCSP
Katie graduated from Birmingham University in 2003 and became a partner at Worcestershire Physiotherapy in 2008.
She has gained general experience in physiotherapy within the Dudley group of hospitals both in the acute hospital and GP settings, as well as working within private practice.
As well as numerous post graduate courses including Orthopaedic medicine and spinal manipulation, Katie is currently studying for a masters degree in acupuncture at Coventry University. Other areas of special interest include Pilates and vestibular rehabilitation, for the treatment of the many causes of dizziness.
Mark McCool : BSc (Hons) MSST
Marc graduated from University College Birmingham in 2011 with a first class honours degree in sports therapy and started working with Worcestershire Physiotherapy shortly after.
Prior to this Marc has been a personal trainer and Pilates instructor since 2004 mainly working with people to help rehabilitate from injury, improve poor posture and help increase sporting performance through a specific blend of exercise regimes.
He has also worked as the Sports therapist for the Birmingham Bulls American Football team, Birmingham University Rugby team and was massage therapist for the City of Birmingham Orchestra between 2010 and 2011. He has a special interest in Golf conditioning and is currently working with local golf pro’s to help improve their golfing performance.
